The average wholesale prices for millet and maize in Bondo sub-county have fallen to Sh2,600 and Sh2,400 per bag respectively.
The prices dropped from Sh3,600 for millet and Sh2,800 for maize, significantly reducing the household burden..
According to the Agricultural Officer Aggrey Mamesa, the prices were pushed down by the recent bumper harvest.
"The sub-county has recorded a significant drop in maize prices since most residents got a good harvest during the short and long rains," said Mr Mamesa, adding that Bondo now has enough food.
In 2012, Bondo experienced a deficit of 108,000 bags of maize. Only 66,000 bags of maize were harvested against the required 178,000.

The poor harvest, which caused the residents rely on relief food, was occasioned by insufficient rainfall.
Last year, Bondo harvested 22,000 bags of maize more than the expected 180,000.
