President William Ruto has appointed former Kabartonjo Ward Councillor Elizabeth Chesang as the Chairperson of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities.

In a gazette notice dated Friday, June 23, 2023, Ruto said Chesang will serve in the position for a period between June 23, 2023 and May 2, 2024.

Chesang replaces Peter Muchiri whose appointmet has been revoked.

"I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, appoint Elizabeth Chesang to be the Chairperson of the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, with effect from the 23rd of June, 2023, until the 2nd of May, 2024," said President Ruto.

At the same time, Ruto appointed former Nambale MP Sakwa Bunyasi as the new Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Development Corporation for a three-year term.

Bunyasi will assume the position previously held by Michael Nyachae, whose appointment has also been revoked.

In another appointment, President Ruto has selected Geoffrey Mutai as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council for a three-year term.

Mutai replaces Ali Menza Mbogo, whose appointment has been revoked. Additionally, Michael Nyachae has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Development Bank of Kenya Limited for a three-year term.

In addition, President Ruto appointed former CEO of Family Bank, Peter Munyiri Maina, as the new Chairperson of the National Standards Council.

Munyiri will serve at the parastatal beginning June, 23, 23, until January 19, 2026.

The appointment Jeremiah Kamau Kinyua was revoked.

Former Mwea MP Peter Njuguna Gitau was appointed as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Sports Kenya, relacing Charles Waithaka, whose appointment has been revoked.

Gitau assumes office immediately until October 5, 2024.
