The Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) will implement a new revenue collection platform in phases to avoid a system crash.
NMS Director of Strategic Communications Tony Mbarine said they had focused on first implementing the payment platform for parking services last week before embarking on the next phase this week.
He said the NMS had deliberately resorted to the phased rollout of the e-payment platform to avoid teething problems such as system crash or downtime that occurs when many people try to use a system at the same time.
“We have not gone completely out as we wanted to fix any issues that could arise,” said Mbarine.

Services that will be accessible to city residents as part of the Nairobi Revenue Service online platform include parking, business permit, land rates, property management and market bill management.
Revenue collection is also carried out through the National Bank of Kenya after another online pay platform JamboPay’s contract was terminated in April 2019.
Jambopay had served since 2014.
