The hearing of a divorce case between Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and his estranged wife Maryanne Kitany has been moved to Nairobi.
Ms Kitany had filed an application to have the matter transferred from Meru after saying she was threatened.
But Mr Linturi had objected, prompting yesterday's ruling, where the court dismissed his request. In the application for transfer, Kitany said she filed the matter in December last year because, together with Linturi, they had a matrimonial home in Meru.
She said after serving Linturi with the divorce papers, she received death threats, which she reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
Kitany told Milimani High Court Family Division Judge Abida Aroni that if the matter proceeded for hearing and determination in Meru, her life would be in grave danger, especially when her presence in court was required.
