No police officer will be granted leave for the December holidays, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has said.
Boinnet said on Wednesday that December is demanding in terms of policing hence the need for the officers’ leaves to be cancelled.
“This December there will be no leaves for the officers. This will be part of efforts to ensure Kenyans are safe in the festive season,” he said.
Boinnet said police have enhanced operations in the country to tame cases of insecurity.
Traffic police have too upped their game in educating motorists on the need for safe and accident free season.

He called for public cooperation to tame incidents of crime, adding that terrorism is still a threat in as much as security agencies are trying to contain the situation.
“Let us cooperate in ensuring we are all safe. We can make it.”
He made the remarks at the Kenya police college in Loresho when he presided over the graduation of 24 officers.
The officers have been undergoing a staff Strategic Leadership and Command Program sponsored by the UK government.
Boinnet told police officers to continue expanding their training to march with the demands of the contemporary society.
“Times have changed and we also have to change to ensure we address the needs of the public,” he said.
During the event, 19 officers graduated with Masters degrees and five with diplomas.
Boinnet said they will expand the college to be a regional training centre for security agencies.
