Police in Butula are pursuing six men who gang raped a candidate at Bwaliro Secondary after waylaying her on the way to school to sit KCSE examinations.
The 17-year-old student was taken to hospital by Good Samaritans who found her on the road writhing in pain. She was treated and discharged at a health facility in Elugulu.
Butula OCPD Stephen Wambua said police have launched investigations into the incident.
“We have received some good leads which will help us arrest the culprits and arraign them in court,” said Mr Wambua.
Elsewhere, a parent has petitioned police to help arrest a man, 25, who allegedly impregnated his 17-year-old daughter, a Form Two student at Tingolo in Butula.

“I am ready to take care of the baby and take back my daughter to school but police must arrest the perpetrator,” said the student’s father Joseph Achari.
In another similar incident, police are hunting for a man for impregnating two girls at Busibwabo Primary School in Bukalama, Matayos.
Nasira sub location assistant chief Silas Aloi said the suspect runs a shop at Busibwabu market. One of the girls was a candidate while the other was in Class Seven. They are both six months pregnant.
“The candidate shied away from sitting KCPE examinations after she discovered she was pregnant,” said Aloi.
Meanwhile, a family is mourning their 12-year-old son who was killed by tractor ferrying sugarcane in Alomodoi, Teso South.
