Leadership in any society should be characterised by unity and cohesiveness for the greater good of the people.

However, in Kenya, the situation is quite different. It's high time that we come together and called upon our leaders to put aside their interests and work for the betterment of Kenya.

In recent years, the political arena in Kenya has become a war zone. Instead of focusing on policies and programmes that could help develop the country, our leaders have focused on divisive politics pulling our country apart.

Politicians and their parties have built their political bases along ethnic lines, causing mistrust and hostility between communities.

The recent division among the major political parties in the country also worsens the situation. The political siege between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja party is a huge source of division in the country. This division is felt even by Kenyans in the diaspora.

Uncertainty about Kenya's future and fear of tribal retaliation in the aftermath of elections has led to migration.

Our leaders must understand that there is an urgent need for unity if Kenya is to achieve more remarkable development, economic growth, and social cohesion. Unity should be a priority for all our leaders across the political divide, regardless of party affiliations.

We must demand that our politicians put their differences aside for the country's benefit. The country faces many challenges ranging from joblessness, food insecurity, and insecurity in some regions- issues that require urgent attention and solutions.

It's time we demand trustworthy leadership recognising the importance of national unity. Our leaders must put aside their party differences and work together towards one common goal: building a better Kenya that we can all be proud of.
