Salt-water gargle
This may aid in treating a sore throat and wet cough. Scoop a half teaspoon of salt and stir it in a cup of warm water till it dissolves. Let the saline solution cool before using it to gargle.
When gargling, let the solution stay at the back of your mouth for a few minutes before spiting it out.
Use the saline solution several times every day until you get better.
Honey tea
Mix a spoonful of honey with warm water or herbal tea. Drink it once or two times a day. However, do not give honey to children under the age of 1 year.
Breathe in steam
If a dry throat is what is making you cough, moisture may help. Cover your head in a basin or bucket with hot water. Alternatively, you could breathe in steam from a hot shower.
Fluids
Drink plenty of luke-warm water to reduce coughs, runny nose, and sneezing
Rest
Your body needs enough rest and energy to fight the virus.
You can also prevent the possibility of catching a cold by frequently washing your hands, staying hydrated and keeping a safe distance from people that have a flu.
