It was a dream come true for a form two student from Lamu County, Feiswal Mohammed after he joined a French third-tier side, La Berrichonne de Chateauroux Football Club.

The French side is currently sixth on the log with 30 points from 19 matches in the 18-team league. Stade Laval is leading with 38 points.

The Kenyan footballer went ahead to stun the French media when he addressed his first press conference in Swahili language after his unveiling.

The Kizingitini Secondary School alumnus who played for Shella FC of Lamu said he was happy to realise his dream of turning professional.

“I’m grateful for the chance and I believe I have what it takes to succeed in my new journey,” Mohammed said at the press conference.

“My promise to the club is that I will dedicate myself to them and fly the Kenyan flag high in France.

“I am ready for the challenge. Thank you La Berrichonne de Chateauroux for the great reception. I’m already feeling at home.”

Shella FC team manager Mohammed Omar said the promising player has been actively involved in Lamu County tournament.

Omar said Mohammed was spotted by French scouts during the Lamu gubernatorial aspirant Umra Omar’s tournament, who contributed greatly to his relocation to France.

Umra through a social media post congratulated Mohammed as she wished the midfielder success at his new club. “Congratulations to Mohammed. Super proud of you. May you make Lamu shine even brighter. I look forward to the Lamu Umoja Football League supporting more talents. This is only the beginning,” the post read.

Through a video, Mohammed was seen joining his teammates and taking part in the team’s training sessions.

The young Kenyan footballer will wear a number 10 jersey.
