Trevor Sinclair has said that he has found the solution to Jose Mourinho’s biggest problem at Manchester United.
According to The Sun, Sinclair believes the Portuguese tactician should definitely keep Rooney in his starting XI – but as a holding midfielder.
Rooney’s lack of pace makes him an ideal candidate to line up in a deep position behind Pogba, and has also urged Mourinho to put his faith in veteran Michael Carrick.
United enjoyed a successful summer transfer window before winning their opening three Premier League matches, but a 2-1 Manchester derby defeat against Pep Guardiola's Man City, a 1-0 Europa League loss to Feyenoord and a 3-1 beat down by Watford have added immense pressure on the Portuguese coach.
