Two men were arrested and charged with injuring their friend for refusing to buy them alcohol.
According to the charge sheet, Tyson Shikoki Ochango and Loyd Munene Mwaniki on February 16, at Ruai in Nairobi's Njiru Sub-County assaulted Brian Ombati.
On that day, Ombati was resting at home when he decided to check on his friend, who makes chapatis. He gave him three on credit after he promised to pay back the following day. On his way back home, Ombati stopped by his friends who were playing pool.
They demanded that he buy them alcohol, but he declined explaining that he had even gotten the chapatis on credit. They did not believe him. Angry, Tyson reportedly broke the pool stick and attempted to hit Brian who ran away.
Tyson followed him, this time armed with a rungu, and hit him at the back of his neck, sending him to the ground leading to an eye injury.
Realising that he had injured the complainant to the point of losing consciousness, the accused ran away leaving him for dead. The complainant was rushed to hospital and later re-reported the matter leading to the arrest of the two suspects, who denied the accusations.
Tyson was granted a cash bail of Sh100,000 and an alternative bond of Sh200,000.
