Celebrated media personality Grace Msalame and he family marked a century since their legendary father Tony Msalame passed away. Taking to social media, the mother of two revealed that the death of her father still is as, ten years later.
According to Mama Twins, as she calls herself, the gap left by their radio presenter father is still felt today. The calm and collected TV present added that her father had a cardiac arrest which led to his death.
“28th May 2010 we got the call that no one ever wishes to receive... You went into cardiac arrest and our lives have never been the same. The gap is felt to date! 10years later it’s exceptionally painful. 10 years later I miss you more... May His Grace be sufficient,” she wrote on Instagram.

At the time of his death in 2010, Tony was still active in the media industry. Various popular personalities who had the chance to meet him described him as a legendary.
While commenting on Grace’s post, music producer Tedd Josiah described Tony as a mentor who gave him a chance when everyone said no to him.
“R I P my biggest fan, my cheering squad! He believed in me before anyone else in media ever did and gave me the shot I needed. Forever loved,” he wrote.
On the other side, Moses Mathenge, popularly known as DJ Moz reminisced days he would bump into Tony in the studio.

“It was always great meeting your dad in the studio at Metro FM on Saturdays after his show Sheki Legi before I got into my show. He was always kind and great to talk to. And also, very passionate about his work. Glad to have met him and interact with him. We celebrate your dad,” he said.
Last month, Frace also paid tribute to her father writing: “Can’t believe it’ll be 10 years next month since you left us… I’m still blown away by all that you accomplished while you were here on Earth & understand even more now, why you were so hard on us growing up, then we didn’t get it but today I remember everything you taught us.”
She described him as a hard worker who loved and protected his family despite the fame he had acquired due to the nature of his job.
“From the value of hard work & learning the delicate balance of your work putting you in the spotlight but maintaining your privacy oh! how you would constantly remind us of this since we were kids. You left such huge shoes to fill! which can be daunting,” she continued.

Tony Msalame was famous for a program called Ongeza Maarifa during his Voice of Kenya (now KBC) days in the early 1980s.
In 1996, he joined Metro FM where he is remembered for his Shekki Leggi (shake your leg) show on weekends. He moved to Mombasa in 2004 and launched Shekki FM.
He passed away on May 28, 2010, after collapsing at his Shekki FM studios. An autopsy indicated that he died of a heart attack.
