The assault of fast-rising comedian and prankster Nicki Bigfish earlier in the week got the arts community up in arms with many condemning the savagery meted on the Jibonge host.

Sharing a photo of his hospitalization, Nicki narrated that he was accosted after a prank went wrong and pledged to share footage of what occurred.

“Bad day in office. Got roughed up by some angry guys, my security team did respond though not swiftly as they should. I’ll be back soon. Keep me in prayers,” he wrote three days ago.

On Friday, March 7, he honoured his word and shared a clip of what he claimed captured the assault.

In the post’s caption, he wrote that artistes in his line of work take risks but pride in their profession and need protection.

“This incident is one among many that we go through as we shoot our pranks. Just like any other job, there are risks that come with what you do, all we need is to respect what people do (legal) be it to pay bills or even as a passion. Thanks to everyone who has stood by me during this unfortunate incident.

“I urge the government to put measures to protect us guys in the creative industry by legislating laws which will ensure that we do our day to day hustle without or with minimal obstacles,” said Nicki.

He called on Kenyans to embrace the art, its creators and revealed that his Jibonge craft was making ground.

“Kindly embrace us as your sons and daughters, it’s never that serious we are just trying to put smiles on your faces coz Kenya sahii watu wana pitia vitu mob sana and we understand. Plus we always delete footage of those people who request us to do so. Otherwise tuna shukuru sana for the love and support. Watu wa Kondele na Kisii be ready Jibonge is coming,” he added.

However, for some, the 88 minute clip attached to it that has garnered over 10,000 views on his Instagram page, did not capture the essence of his claim.

“It’s clear that it was staged but nice try. Use microphone and don’t get too close and the most important part is let the guys you’re doing the prank with smash the mic and try to stop the recording to make it more realistic,” opined @warsameresofficial.

“Hiyo umetuprank pia sisi watazamaji.. You scripted hyo kitu,” added @mc_ogada_mie.

While @mayfairinsurancelimited posed, “Huyo bouncer mfupi sold you out.”

“Looks staged to me, but siku utashikwa ata nguvu ya kupost utashindwa,” noted @clare_tboss.

For many, however, the piece was spot on.

“Huwezi tuwacha na suspens hivyo maze. Tunataka kuona ukifishiwa,” wrote @nyagahgendi.

“You can't walk around these streets pranking frustrated, on the verge of suicide kenyans, the next one might just shoot you in the head,” shared @makhatso.

“Ulijaribu wabayaa bruh ona vile uyo amekushika shingo Kama mtoi,” pointed out @elibaady.

For @y.yaqub.b it was too short, "Si ungetonesha full video ukipewa zako, wamekushika tu Shingo alafu ikaisha hivo, apaaana. Onesha yote."
