Gospel singer Emmy Kosgei her husband, Apostle Anselm Madubuko, are celebrating their sixth year wedding anniversary.

In a post on Instagram, the Kenyan songbird of Taunet Nelel fame shared that she is glad that she said yes to Madubuko's proposal and subsequent wedding in 2013.

“Happy anniversary to us!!! God has been faithful! Madubuko I love you always..so glad I said yes,” posted Emmy.

In an interview with Parents Magazine, Emmy narrated that the General Overseer of Revival Assembly Church, Nigeria, is a very "mature and clean hearted man" who has showered her with "affection like she has never experienced before".

“When I was getting into relationships, one of the things I was keen on was that my partner would love me for me. Not my status. Anselm and I understand each other so much, there’s no room for conflict or misunderstanding. If we decide to undertake something and I am not pleased, I can voice my displeasure. This is something we cultivated way before our marriage.

“He would always tell me, ‘Talk to me. Tell me anything even if it’s silly’ and that has helped us. When you meet us you’d think it’s a hoax but we really don’t fight over things. We communicate a lot and our faith helps. We both just desire to better the Kingdom of God,” she narrated.

Children with Madubuko

She reiterated that she is no hurry nor pressure to get children.

“When I was getting married and joining my new family and church, I was really scared. However, it has worked out. Both divides have accepted me. My stepchildren respect me and call me mum. I don’t take it for granted. Their children also refer to me as grandma, even though I’m a grandmother before becoming a mum myself.

“I didn’t get married just because I wanted to have kids. Relationships are about unions and destinies. If you are attached to the wrong person, it can affect your destiny permanently. I’m also very busy. Personally, we are not under any pressure to have children but yes, I hope to have my own child one day,” said Emmy.

Speaking to Nigeria’s The Sun on the transition to a new country and the impact it had on her music, Emmy affirmed that it had not been easy.

“It’s not easy, because it’s entirely a different ball game in Nigeria. He understands my music, he respects the people’s love for me and he has always supported me. And he has always given me the platform and opportunity to grow in my career.

“It’s not easy for a young lady of my age to be controlling activities as pastor’s wife. I give God all the glory for placing me among members who love and support me,” added the singer.

Humility

In 2018, the singer left many on social media gasping after she posted a photo of herself kneeling before her husband.

According to the singer explained that she knelt as an act of “humility and submission.”

“Humility is never a weakness in life. Pride, as they say, comes before a fall. It doesn't hurt to humble yourself, it doesn't take anything out of you it actually adds! You remain a rib and helper to him regardless of your status financially or otherwise, must you be right always?

“Must your point come through always? Must you announce your contribution in your marriage? Must it be known that you do all things?

“Learn to tame your character, learn to bite your tongue. Treat him like a king that he is, love and honour him. Some little acts look foolish but it adds value! Do it out of love! Wisdom is profitable! Step down from 7th flr,’’ posted Emmy.
