Father's Day is honored every year across the world and celebrated on the third Sunday of June in most countries.
2019 was no different and fell on Sunday, June 16 where a bevy of celebrities in Kenya joined the world in celebrating fatherhood, father figures, and paternal bonds.
First was entrepreneur and media personality Julie Gichuru who seized the moment to celebrate her husband Anthony.
“'Man a King, me not talk 'bout Larry' Happy Birthday week and Happy Father’s Day weekend to my King, we love you baby. Happy Father’s Day to all kings who are there, who love and who care! We celebrate y'all,” wrote Julie.
Actress Catherine Kamau was not left behind either as she gave a shout out to her husband Philip Karanja for showing her son Leon “what it means to be a real man.”
“A man never stands as tall as when he kneels to help a child! Happy Father’s day to the most amazing dad, Leon is one of the luckiest child to have you in his life, thank you for showing him what it means to be a real man, you are loved, adored, and appreciated, happy Father’s Day to you love,” she posted on Instagram.
Meja Mshindo, a man who stepped up following the passing of Rashid Abdalla’s father in 1996 was the figure celebrated by the popular Citizen TV anchor.
Abdalla thanked him for being there through the trying moments.
“Kaka uliyekuwa baba yangu pindi tu baba alipofariki 1996. Hakika ulijinyima mengi kufanikisha ndoto zangu na kuziba upweke wa kuondokewa na baba mzazi duniani. Uliyafanya haya yote sio eti ulikuwa na kila kitu bali uliongozwa na utu wako kwangu na familia yote kwa ujumla.

Former K24 TV host, musician and healthy living guru Kalekye Mumo took to the scriptures as she laid it out why all loving father figures deserve a pat on the back.
“The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.”
