Eddie Mutwe, alongside Musa Ssenyange in court

Bobi Wine's personal bodyguard Edward Sebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe, alongside Musa Ssenyange aka Rabadaba Musisi, a machine operator, were charged with treason on Tuesday by Gulu Grade One magistrate Yunus Ndiwalana.

The two are among the 33 charged with treason after alleged Bobi Wine's supporters pelted President Museveni's convoy with stones in Arua.

The State Prosecutor, Julius Ochen argued that the duo alongside the other 31 used an excavator to block the president's motorcade last month.

“As officers of court we respect this decision, we may not agree with it. We intend to pursue the bigger remedy that this client, just like the previous 33 are entitled.

“So right now, we're getting down to work on papers for the bail applications and hopefully before the end of the week or whatever time next we'll have him produced for his bail application so that they are released,” the accused lawyers stated.

After listening to both sides, Magistrate Ndiwalana ordered the suspects to apply for bail in the High Court and remanded the duo at Gulu Central Prison until October 1st when they will appear together with the 31 to answer to the charges.

Mr Sebuufu's lawyer filed submissions on Monday before Justice Musa Ssekaana who had earlier given orders for their unconditional release.

Sebuufu was allegedly arrested at Semakokiro Plaza in Kamwokya on August 25th by plain clothes officers, days after the arrest of his boss Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, on August 14th.

Currently in the US receiving specialized treatment after he was allegedly tortured under the hands of security operatives, Bobi Wine remains defiant on returning home, urging his countrymen to stand up for what they believe in.

“There is a treason charge against me and I believe many more charges will come. I know I could go to prison, I still could be hanged and I also know I could be illegally assassinated. My driver was shot and killed while sitting in the same spot I'd been sitting just a few seconds before. I know everything is possible in Uganda,” Bobi Wine told AFP.
