Legendary Tanzanian actor Amri Athuman popularly known as Mzee Majuto is in the Intensive Care Unit.

According Bongo 5 the veteran Bongo actor was rushed on Tuesday to the Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam where he was admitted.

This is not the first time the comedian’s condition has worsened in recent months.

His conditioned deteriorated in April and was later hospitalized for days before being flown out to India for specialized treatment.

Majuto’s wife Aisha was at the time quoted by Azania Times saying that the award winning actor was battling hernia.

A condition that occurs “when an organ pushes through an opening in the muscle or tissue” according to healthline.com.

When vesting the comedian in hospital that April, the country’s Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Minister Dr Harrison Mwakyembe announced that the government would foot the comedian's medical bills, both local and abroad.

Mzee Majuto was born in 1948 in Tanga and to some is credited as Tanzania’s greatest Bongo comedian ever to grace the silver screen.
