They say East or West home is best but that is not the same case in my home, Seme Sub County. There is actually nothing to be proud of. We have been marginalized and totally left out in the dark.

It is only in Seme where rich women can afford an iPad and yet the poor girls and women cannot afford just a sanitary pad.

It is only in Seme where Samsung tablets are easily available and accessible by all than the Antiretroviral (ARVs) drugs.

It is only in Seme where the leaders can afford to buy condominiums and yet the poor ‘mwananchi’ cannot even afford to buy a condom.

Our leaders are full of pride but the young girls and women are only seen as brides.

They say Seme produces powerful leaders and yet women are still not empowered.

Our leaders claim to preach peace but it’s quit ironical that cases of violence against women are still on the rise.

It only in Seme where people can sit down and plan for development projects, but cannot sit down to plan for their own families. Family planning is not known by the locals.

We have a lot of civil society in Seme and yet the residents remain uncivilized.

Who will save Seme Sub County? Should we wait for the pope to come to Seme and air out our grievances so that the world can listen?

It is quite a shame that in this century we still have people who cannot afford sanitary pads and condoms. 2016 should be the year Seme will surmount its problems. I call upon the government and all stakeholders to come together and make a safe haven here.
