Asamoah Gyan has released a statement denying his involvement in the murder of Ghanaian rapper, Theophilus Tagoe, popularly known as Castro.

Castro, a friend of the former Sunderland striker, disappeared while jet skiing on holiday along with his girlfriend, Janet Bandu, in July in the company of the Ghanaian soccer star.

There were claims Castro had been killed as part of a ritual sacrifice, something Gyan denies any knowledge of or involvement in.

“What sells in the media in Ghana are wild allegations and rumours directed especially at Asamoah Gyan – ranging from the absurd – of the imputation of criminality to him in the sense that he either murdered Castro or had him kidnapped – and ending with the ludicrous – that he sacrificed him spiritually to enhance his career,” read a statement from Gyan’s family.

But Lawyer Maurice Ampaw claims that upon his own investigation, he found out that a necklace worn by Castro was later found in a dustbin hours before he and his lady friend went missing.

Janet’s family blames Gyan and his management for neglecting them and depriving them of vital information regarding Bandu’s disappearance.

“If they murdered her, they should tell me so that I can at least get the body and bury her. After all, I am not the only person whose daughter has died... because I think they murdered Castro and Janet. I am not concluding so, but I am suspecting something like that,” said retired Staff Sergeant Joe Bandu, father of Janet Bandu, the lady who supposedly drowned with rapper Castro in the Volta Lake at Ada.
