A man has denied attacking his pastor as he prepared to preach in church.
Joe Lumumba, 53, allegedly attacked pastor Wycliffe Muyilwa of Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) church in Starehe on August 3.
Wycliffe, 40, allegedly sustained serious injuries after the morning attack. The pastor claimed he was preparing to preach when the accused rose, went to the pulpit, pushed him to the ground and rained blows and kicks on him.
Lumumba claimed the pastor had been misusing the church’s ‘sadaka’ and that he was planning to sell the land where the church stands.
“I just pushed him down because he is not a good man, and church members are not sure how money collected is used,” he told court.

The magistrate left members of public in stitches when he said: “I am worried when two men fight. We may have to summon the pastor to push you down to settle the matter.”
Lumumba denied the charge and was released on a Sh5,000 bail. The case will be mentioned on August 19.
