Schools will reopen for the first term in 2019 on January 3 instead of the earlier scheduled date January 2.
In a circular by Education Ministry sent to newsrooms, it has said that this "will allow ample time for teachers and learners to travel back from their holidays."
The ministry had earlier scheduled the opening date for January 2.
Students joining Form One places are expected to report between January 7 to 11.
This year’s education calendar will run for 38 weeks. The first term will begin on Jan 3 running through to April 5.

This comes even as the government is set to roll out a new education curriculum amid uncertainty on its implementation.
Officials who spoke to The Standard have however expressed doubt saying that Kenyans are fast losing confidence in the curriculum implementation, due to poor decision making at the ministry.
