The National Parents Association (NPA) has warned its branch officials against colluding with teachers to raise illegal fees.
This is after it emerged that the Ministry of Education is investigating a number of secondary schools in Nyanza over use of parents and teachers associations to hike fees.
NPA national chairman Nicholas Maiyo said although they were not aware of involvement of their members in such practices, they would take legal action against anyone implicated once investigations are complete.
In defence of the newly created outfit, Maiyo said it was possible those under investigation were members of the outlawed Parents Association led by Musau Ndunda.

“We are not aware of such activities and I do not think those are our members,” he said.
“But let it be known that as an association we do not tolerate activities that are not in line with our guidelines, if the investigations find a member culpable we will sue them.”
Fees are capped at Sh9,374 for day schools, Sh53,543 for boarding and Sh37,210 for special schools per year.
