Kitui, Kenya: Muthale Girls Secondary School and St Charles Lwanga Boys produced the county's top girl and top boy respectively.
Ann Mawia and Evans Mutemi each scored an A grade of 83 points.
St Charles Lwanga was, however, the county's top school with a mean score of 8.827 followed by Muthale which had an 8.789 mean score.
The schools, which are Catholic sponsored, have for many decades since their inception, dominated as the county's top performers in the national examination.

St Charles Lwanga's Principal Nicholas Muasya said 127 candidates sat for the KCSE exam, adding that the mean score was a drop from the previous year.
His Muthale counterpart, Mary Mulwa, said her school had enrolled 233 students who obtained seven A's, 25 A-, 42 B+, 63 B, 51 B-, 31 C+, 9 C, 3 C- and 2 D+.
The county's third school was St Angelas Girls, Mutune which had a 7.7 mean score.
