Motorists and other road users will have to contend with the closure of Haile Selassie Avenue on Sunday 19th February and 26th February 2023.

This is after the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) announced the intended closure.

Through a public notice posted on Twitter, KURA said the closure is to allow refurbishment of the footbridge that connects Central Bank of Kenya and City Square Post Office.

"Kenya Urban Roads Authority wishes to notify the general public of the total closure of Haile Selassie Avenue on Sunday 19th and 26 February 2023 to allow for strengthening of Central Bank of Kenya-City Square Post Office footbridge," the Authority said.

Road users will experience the closure from midnight.

"The closure will commence from Saturday 18th midnight to Sunday 19th midnight. The same will be repeated on midnight Saturday 25th till midnight of 26th February 2023," the notice read.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.

"Motorists and members of public are urged to use alternative routes like Uhuru Highway, Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue on both days. We regret any inconvenience caused and urge members of the public to cooperate as we strive to enhance urban mobility." The Authority said.
