Jubilee Party’s much anticipated National Governing Council (NGC) is currently underway at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Delegates at the NGC are expected to review the party’s policies, ratify proposed changes to the party’s Constitution and consider its rebranded seal, symbol and flag – Jubilee’s last ties to Deputy President William Ruto, who has since moved on to form the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

They are also expected to adopt a resolution to support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s preferred successor ODM leader Raila Odinga, whose party is concurrently holding its NGC at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.

According to ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohamed, the two parties will formally launch the Azimio la Umoja Coalition in two weeks’ time.

“Over 10 parties who have already subscribed to the Azimio Coalition will be invited to the grand launch. ODM and Jubilee will become anchors and founding members of the Jubilee Coalition movement,” said Junet during ODM's NGC.

President Uhuru will formally endorse Odinga’s presidential bid during the joint session.

Speaking at the Sagana State Lodge on Wednesday, President Uhuru threw his weight behind the Azimilo la Umoja’s presumptive presidential candidate for the presidency saying DP Ruto was 'politically immature', and not ready to succeed him come August 9.

“According to where we have come from, where we are and where we are headed, I want to ask you to hold the hand of the old man (Raila) and support him… the other young man still has time and we can support him in future…,” said President Uhuru.
