An irresistible two-seater motor vehicle advocating for peace in the country is the talk of town in Kakamega county. Invented by a 31 year old, Anthony Waliaro Waningu from Mumias, Bungoma county, the vehicle can move at a speed of 80km/hr.
Buoyant over the success of his invention of the speed boat that he says can move both on land and on water, Anthony was no longer content to merely add to the growing aeronautical knowledge; he wanted to invent something big.
Coupled with the challenges he encountered while operating a bodaboda in Mombasa, Anthony was catapulted to invent a three-wheeled, two-seater vehicle that uses solar system with a television, public address system and a boot.
On an exclusive interview with him, this part-time musician unearthed to us that his passion in mechanics began when he was still young. He narrated making several utensils to his mum while in class two.
While at St. Peter’s Mumias high school, his passion haunted him and he designed over five prototypes of an aeroplane which he says are still preserved in the institution.

“My dream to pursue a degree in aeronautical engineering was shuttered when I joined Mombasa Aviation College but dropped due to financial constraints”, he said. Waliaro further proceeded to tell us he began collecting spare parts to make the vehicle in 2016 and in one and a half years later, he completed the whole project.
“My journey in this field has been choked with multiple challenges ranging from lack of finance to fund the project. I remember disuniting with my family because they ridiculed me saying I was wasting time”. He further added.
His ambition is to use his talent to advocate for peace and would love to partner with safaricom and other interested organizations to preach peace. He reported to have started an organization christened Gifted Minds where he had an intention to mobilize all Kenyans with skills in mechanics so that they can work on developing a mega project.
Meanwhile, he is currently working on a project to make motorbike with a bigger cc which he says can be used with doctors to attend to patients during emergencies.
With Kenyan flag and ‘a million handshake’ and ‘ I support my president’ written on the vehicle, a symbol of peace and patriotism, Anthony would like the Kenyan government to support him to take his talent and passion in mechanics and knowledge in aeronautics a notch higher.
