Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reportedly wants to join Arsenal because of his father's admiration for Arsene Wenger.

The Gabon striker remains on Arsenal's wishlist in the final days of the transfer window after the Gunners had two bids rejected for his services.

Dortmund have warned Aubameyang won't be sold unless Arsenal offer £60m with the forward featuring in the draw with Freiburg on Saturday.

It remains to be seen if he will make the move but there have been questions asked about his interest in the deal, with Arsenal sixth in the Premier League and only in the Europa League.

He will pocket a hefty sum if he completes the move but his father Pierre Francois, also known as Yaya, is also playing a part.

The Sunday Times reports Wenger is well respected by Aubameyang Snr, who played in France in the 80s and 90s - and the family believe it would be a good move for the Dortmund star.

Yaya played for Laval, Le Havre and Toulouse and also featured 80 times for Gabon.

He is now currently employed as a scout by AC Milan, where his other sons have previously been on trial.

Ahead of the clash with Freiburg, Dortmund chief Michael Zorc sent a warning to Arsenal over Aubameyang.

"Either our demands are met and there will be a transfer, or they aren't met and Auba will play in Dortmund until summer," he said.

"This is how we discussed it with his family [the player's father is his agent] and how it is agreed upon.

"We have a clear position. We're ready, with certain conditions, to make a transfer happen, but only when all conditions are completely met. So far Arsenal have tried and we've rejected everything."

Arsenal remain interested in the Dortmand man as they look for options upfront following the departure of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez who has signed for their rivals Manchester United.

Reports have also been made that the German club is interested in a swap deal that will see them sign the French striker Olivier Giroud from Arsenal as they part ways with the Gabonese.

Whether the player-swap or player-money transfer will materialize is something that remains subject to time.

Chelsea have also been linked with the attempt to sign the French international and such could influence the deal that would see Aubameyang move to the Emirates.
