Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could make his Arsenal debut as soon as next Tuesday.

The Gunners are desperate to sign the Gabon striker as a replacement for the departed Alexis Sanchez.

And a deal could be wrapped up in time for him to lead the line against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium next week, according to German newspaper Bild .

Arsenal have so far had a £44million bid rejected as Dortmund look for closer to £60m.

The German club would also entertain a swap deal involving French hitman Olivier Giroud.

And Dortmund manager Peter Stoger did not rule out his player's departure.

He said: "I can only say that we would soon like to have a solution to this situation.

"Whatever the outcome of this matter, everyone would agree that whatever brings clarity will help the team."

Arsenal are looking for a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who has so far been sold to Manchester United on a swap deal that saw them sign the Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Even though it seems like they may have replaced the Chilean by bringing in the former Borussia Dortmund man, Wenger seems to be far from being satisfied with the business so far and is determined to land the Gabonese.

Aubameyang is an out-and-out striker who can compete with summer signing Alexandre Lacazette for the starting first team upfront, and that could a role that the Armenian cannot play.

Wenger may also surprise many people by allowing striker Olivier Giroud to move the other direction. Giroud has been a fringe player ever since his compatriot Lacazette made a move to the Emirates Stadium. After being relegated to the bench, the Frenchman may be convinced to go to Germany so that he can secure first team chances and contend for the first eleven in the French national team.
