Just moments after he was released on Sh500, 000 cash bail, former Students Organisation of Nairobi University (SONU) Chairman and now Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino was re-arrested.
He had spent two nights in the police cells for allegedly insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta in a National Super Alliance (NASA) rally.
According to Standard Digital, Babu was charged with assault while he was still contesting for the SONU chairman’s seat in 2016.
Offensive conduct, subversion and incitement to violence are the charges he is facing.
Undercover police quickly arrested Babu as Siaya Senator James Orengo was speaking to supporters outside the court.

Once the crowd realised that the MP had been arrested again, they became rowdy prompting police to disperse them using tear gas.
He went on to his Twitter and wrote,” I have been re-arrested by flying squad officers who are holding me at Pangani Police Station,"
October 4th is the date set for his case to be mentioned.
