NAIROBI, KENYA: Salaries and Remuneration Commission has finally authorised the release of funds meant for the first batch of the salary increment for civil servants to be implemented this July but based on the old job grading system.
The amount totaling Sh 5.3 billion to be paid in two phases has ignored SRC's proposed new grading system referred to as Patterson after a section of the civil servants disagreed with it.
The amount that has been factored in the new pay includes the SRC's salary increment in March this year following the effects of a Job Evaluation exercise as well as the recently signed Collective Bargaining Agreement between civil servants and their trade union, the Union of Civil Servants.
