STARLETS, CAMEROON

Nigeria head coach Florence Omagbemi has hailed Kenya's Harambee Starlets performance despite trouncing the debutants 4-0 in their last Group B match, at the Limbe Omnisports Stadium on Saturday night.

The nine-time Africa Women's Cup of Nations champions, who are on course of retaining the title, will face Group A runner-up the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in tomorrow's semi-final match in Limbe.

Ghana will battle hosts Cameroon the same day in Yaoundé after finishing second behind Nigeria with a resounding 3-1 win over Mali on Saturday.

"I want to give respect to the Kenyan team; you don't just go in and decide that because you won the first game 6-0 you are going to give the other team eight that is not our target. We just wanted to play and win. So, I am not disappointed with the score-line, at the end of the day we got the win; that's the most important thing to the team," said Omagbemi.

"Kenya is no pushover; they qualified on merit and came here with a reason. And with the score-line, we are good to go. We are now looking forward to our next game against South Africa."

Instrumental Sweden-based midfielder Ngozi Okobi, who opened the scoring with a second minute screamer, was equally pleased with Starlets' potential.

"I give kudos to the Kenyan team because they are all young players coming up. I appreciate them a lot and I was very happy watching them play against Ghana and Mali. I pray they continue like this because they are all good players," said Okobi.
