It is true that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is one of those constitutional bodies with rules and guidelines on how to operate.
However, as it is now, the commission is experiencing a heated uprising from the Opposition regarding its fairness, and there are reasons why its officials should act wisely.
First, CORD as the official Opposition has numbers behind it. It should therefore not be ignored.
With the numbers behind it, CORD is able to advise and convince its supporters to boycott the 2017 General Election.
This can affect the threshold required by the law in deciding who the next president will be.

Second, the church through its umbrella body NCCK, has said the electoral body has lost its integrity and there is need to send its commissioners home.
Though NCCK may not be able to convince its members to embrace its decision, we believe their voice is important as they are God's messengers.
It is time IEBC officials considered the situation and thought about the future.
