The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is targeting 7,500 new admissions for the first time through an electronic registration. The move is aimed at cutting the cost of paperwork and sealing revenue loopholes.
Speaking in Kisumu over the weekend, KMTC Director Peter Tum said the online registration portal would also help weed out cheats who are unqualified but use unscrupulous means to make their way through the institution.
He said the move is part of the many reforms the institution has put in place to improve on its efficiency. Tum noted e-registration would ensure the many students aspiring to join KMTC are reached.
“Beginning this year, any student will have to apply online for the first time as opposed to in the past, where we lost revenue since many people would use the same paying slip to apply to our institutions without us knowing,” said Tum. He added it will even make payment easier as many people have mobile phones and payment will be done through mobile payment platforms.
