Jubilee and CORD leaders war of words continue to intensify everyday as they seek to out do each other on the political arena. However, the remarks by Mombasa politician Suleiman Shahbal warning that Jubilee will use all means to win elections has received condemnation.

Mr Shahbal, made the remarks in the presence of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale and Deputy President William Ruto.

It should not be forgotten that the 2007/2008 post election violence was sparked by such remarks and the cases are still pending before the International Criminal Court.

His remarks echo CORD leader Raila Odinga‘s claims that there are plans to rig the 2017 General Election. Leaders careless remarks on the elections could spark violence over suspicion hence the Director of Public Prosecution should once and for all ensure all hate speech cases are heard to the logical conclusion and suspects handed harsh penalties to act as a deterrent.

The move by Jubilee leaders to launch a scathing attack against CORD leader Raila Odinga over criticism of the government is in bad faith.

The Jubilee government seems hell bent on defending the Eurobond funds which Raila has demanded accountability. The counter accusations by the Jubilee and opposition leaders meant to divert Kenyans from the real issues affecting the country. The government should therefore come clean on the alleged lose of public funds.
