In a period when there is so much discussion going on in the country in terms of corruption, politics and El Nino, it’s such a breath of fresh air to read of a governor who stands up to be counted.
Dr Alfred Mutua amazed a lot of us by voluntarily opting to declare his wealth. Many of us, even those without much wealth, would be hesitant to openly share with the whole world such information.
Governor Mutua, reports indicate, has offered access to his wealth, bank records and records of his assets for use by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. He goes down in history as the first governor to make such a move.
I have keenly followed his leadership style. Leading from the front and making himself an example to his team.
The fearless and patriotic move of declaring his wealth without being forced is a clear message that he has nothing to hide. I am very sure that very few of his peers would consider such a move since they have amassed a lot of wealth in the last three years.
