While the Government appears to be prepared for the impending El Nino rains, much of the preparedness appear to be centred only on flooding and not in terms of security.
It should be noted that it is during such periods that many instances of insecurity are experienced. Many thugs, robbers and carjackers tend to take advantage of the inaccessibility of roads to commit crimes.
The Government should put in place elaborate security measures to ensure that criminal activities will be minimised.
Kenya Power should also ensure that the issue of frequent blackouts are minimised as it is during outages when criminals strike.
The Kenya Consumer Federation should also move fast to save commuters from exploitation by matatu operators who are likely to take advantage of the situation to hike fares.
