Eldoret, Kenya: Three Eldoret-based traffic police officers have been arrested on corruption allegations.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) picked the officers up on Wednesday afternoon along the Eldoret-Kitale-Malaba road for allegedly collecting bribes from motorists. The EACC officers were led by their North Rift Regional Deputy Director Charles Rasugu. A fourth policeman escaped when he outran the anti-graft agency officers.
There have been numerous complaints by the public in Eldoret of policemen collecting bribes from motorists. On Wednesday, Acting Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi promised to sack any officer implicated in corruption even as their cases continue in court.
