Kenya: The first ever Meetings, Incentive travel, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) forum in East and Central Africa, which starts in Nairobi today, has already attracted over 1,000 delegates, Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) Managing Director Fred Simiyu said yesterday.
The inaugural MICE, initially designed for local players, has attracted over 50 exhibitors from within and the rest of the region besides late entrants from Dubai. The business tourism forum is expected to generate over Sh32 billion in multiplier effect.
The Kenya MICE expo will be promoting business tourism to break overdependence on traditional tourism based on sand and wildlife to make Kenya increase its share of attraction worldwide. Simiyu said the function will officially be opened by East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism Cabinet Secretary Phylis Kandie. - Abigael Sum
