A programme to upgrade slums on the Island has been announced.
In an interview with The Standard on the island yesterday, Land Executive Amina Rashid said the process is now at the data gathering stage.
"We are currently focusing this process on Kashmir, Bombay and Langoni settlements after which we will develop a concept paper and a proposal showing how much the upgrade project will cost," she said.
Because of the town's narrow paths and closely erected buildings, the county is also planning to buy fire extinguishers since it currently has none.
Proper planning will also enable the creation of offices for county officials.
