Kitengela, Kajiado County: Police have arrested 25 Ethiopian nationals on their way to Tanzania for being in the country without valid documents.
The men, in their early 20s, were found hidden in a house at New Valley Estate area on Tuesday night waiting to be ferried to South Africa through Tanzania.
The police were acting on a tip-off from local residents through the Government's 'Nyumba Kumi Initiative'.
Sources revealed that the immigrants had been dropped off by a Nairobi-bound bus and were waiting to be picked up by another vehicle. Police had to use an interpreter since the immigrants did not understand English or Kiswahili.
The midnight ambush was led by the OC crime Inspector Anthony Ikunda. Also arrested was an Ethiopian lady married to a Kenyan, Maimuna Mohammed, who was housing the aliens at a fee.The incident comes barely two weeks after another 12 illegal immigrants were arrested by police in the same estate in similar incidents.
