Machakos County: Former assistant minister Gideon Ndambuki, has defended President Uhuru's move to empower county commissioners.

Speaking to The Standard Wednesday morning, the former Kaiti MP said the Constitution is very clear as to what the President did was in line with his responsibility.

He criticised those opposing the move saying they had sinister motives as they were aware no part of the Constitution was breached.

"At this time when the country needs a lot of prayers and unity than ever before owing to the prevailing ugly incidents, all leaders regardless of their political affiliation should demonstrate patriotism to move the country forward by coming together," he added.

Mr Ndambuki called on the opposition not to just say things for the sake of it without knowing that Kenyans were bright enough to differentiate between constructive politics and politics of doom .

He told the opposition politicians to give Kenyans a break and stop inciting them to mass action as this will not solve anything but worsen the situation.

"If they know they are leaders of substance who would like one time to lead the country and be heard, they should be on the forefront to set positive examples and not antagonizing kenyans minds by calling for street protests," he said.

He said the many problems Kenya was facing needed collective responsibility from both political divine and not one side pulling the other down.

Pleading with the opposition to stop their witch-hunt against Jubilee government, Mr Ndambuki, said time had come when political enemies should bury their differences and come together for the interest of the stability of the country.

He called on Kenyans to refuse being used to go back to those dark days when things used to be solved through street demonstrations which cost them dearly.

Similar sentiments were echoed by the Machakos county Narc chairman Mr Davis Musau, who told the opposition to learn to solving matters of national concern amicably.

"These leaders should know that Kenya has gone digital and should shun the old way of doing things analog," he added.

"If the chairman of the Constitutional Implementation Committee Charles Nyachae, among other experts, have approved what the President did on county commissioners is constitutionally  right, who are these MPs to comment when some of whom have not even read the Constitution?"
