Embu, Kenya: At least seven people have perished after the matatu they were travelling in rolled at Kimbimbi market along the Mwea-Embu road.
Police at the scene said four died on the spot among them the matatu driver while three others died moments upon arrival at the nearby Kimbimbi sub-district hospital.
According to police, the Tuesday evening accident was caused by a mechanical problem when the vehicle’s propeller shaft broke down and literary dug into the tarmac road with the intensity tossing the matatu on air.
The matatu, then hit the ground, rolled several times and got its top ripped off, thereby literally spilling all the passengers on the hard ground leading to the fatalities and serious injuries.
