EPL: David Moyes admits there is an ‘urgency’ to sign new players in the January transfer window after his first season as Manchester United manager sank to a new low with Sunday’s FA Cup third-round defeat by Swansea.

But after a frustrating summer in the transfer market and a general acceptance that it will be hard to clinch the big deals he needs to lift United’s flagging squad, Moyes admits it is going to be difficult.

‘I have said before that I will try to bring players in this month but it’s doubtful because of the way the window works,’ he said. ‘There is no point me hyping it up, because the ones we want are probably not going to be available. It is that, rather than us not wanting to do it.’

Top of United’s list are two new midfielders, a striker, a left back and a centre back. MailOnline reveals six of Moyes’s main targets and why it will be so hard to sign them in January.
