Laikipia, Kenya: Laikipia County Government is set to employ 900 teachers to teach in the early childhood development institutions.
Governor Joshua Irungu announced that the move is meant to offload the burden from parents who have been paying ECD teachers.
Every teacher, he said, would earn not less than Sh10,000. This is contrary to the current situation where the ECD teachers earn between Sh2, 000 and Sh4, 000.
According to the governor, the move will also improve education status in the region from the grass root level.
