Murhanda Girls from Western Kenya eased past Rift Valley’s Kapsowar Girls with a 2-0 win in a Group B clash on the second day of the national Copa Coca-Cola Under-15 football tournament at World Hope Centre in Kawangware, Nairobi.

Sylvia Munyasa and Lavender Lihemo scored a goal each in both halfs of the match to give the Western side the deserved win. Murhanda join Kisumu Queens at the top of the log albeit with inferior goal difference.

Kisumu Lakers drubbed Eastern’s Black Cats 5-0 in the boy’s pool B. Lakers took the lead with barely two minutes on the clock through a stunning strike by Ian Samuel. They doubled the lead through Augustine Odhiambo, who converted a penalty in the 40th minute.

A spectacular free kick from Steve Otieno and a second goal from Samuel made it 4-0 for the winners before Eric Ochieng converted a penalty five minutes to the whistle to seal Lakers win.

Beijing Girls bounced back from their 4-2 defeat against Otto Benecker on Monday to dismiss Kaloleni Queens 4-0 with both Selvine Atamba and Anney Matinde grabbing a brace each.

The clash pitting Rift Valley’s Gunners FC against Malindi United Academy in the boys’ pool A ended 2-2. Gunners took the lead after 12 minutes from the penalty converted by Wesley Omaiyo. However, Hassan Ali leveled the scores five minutes later.

Ali then put Malindi ahead just after the interval with a perfect stunner but Eric Kipkurui’s thunderbolt from outside the area ten minutes to time ensured the match ended in a draw.

Today will see the impressive Kisumu Queens return to the field to take on Murhanda Girls. Winners of the clash will be guaranteed entry into the semi finals as they both sit on top of their standings with maximum points. Two teams that are facing elimination, Kapsowar Girls and Maragua Queens will also take on each other with hopes that fate would guarantee them a place in the semis.

Other girls’ matches today pit Otto Benecker against Kaloleni Queens and Beijing Girls against Mukuyuni Red Shooters. Kisumu Lakers will tackle Young Muslims as JMJ clash against Black Cats in Group B.

The semis finals are slated for Friday. Winners of the competition will receive a a cash reward of Sh500,000.
