Kindiki visibly embarrassed after Turkana woman makes indecent remarks during Tharaka Nithi political event

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki was left visibly embarrassed after a female leader invited to speak at a grassroots event made sexually explicit remarks that were cut short by the microphone.

In a video that has since gone viral, the unidentified leader is seen addressing the crowd alongside Kindiki when she suddenly strayed into vulgar language.

“Kama wamama, si mnajua usiku vile mnatufanya vizuri? Kitu ikikuwa ndani tunaskia vizuri, na ikitoka nje, tunaskia vizuri,” she said, before her microphone was abruptly muted.

The mic resumed mid-speech, capturing her concluding remarks.

“Kwa sababu mama ukimtenda vizuri, anaamka akisema ‘anaweza!’ Kwa hivyo sisi tunashukuru kuketi ndani ya serikali kwa sababu tayari waturkana wako ndani ya serikali.”

Kindiki, looking visibly unsettled, attempted to interrupt and distract the audience by engaging them with his trademark catchphrase, “Huyu mama ni faya si faya?” as he fidgeted and paced around the podium.

The event took place at Kindiki’s Tharaka Nithi home, where grassroots leaders from Isiolo had paid him a courtesy call.

The footage has since sparked heated debate online, with many Kenyans condemning the remarks as inappropriate, particularly in the presence of the Deputy President.

“Jamanii our mothers mchunge ile kitu munaogea hapo. Kuna watoto wadogo wenu,” wrote one user, Abdi K.

Another, Peter Kamweru, added: “This is very horrible manner of campaigning!! shame! Shame! shame! shame we say!”

The incident adds to a growing list of controversies involving sexually suggestive remarks made by politicians at public forums.

Just weeks earlier, President William Ruto’s personal assistant, Farouk Kibet, was caught on video making similar comments about Lamu Woman Representative Monicah Muthoni during a women’s empowerment event in Ainabkoi.

In that footage, Kibet appeared to encourage men in the audience to show interest in the MP.

“Huyu mama anatosha, hatoshi? Ako sawa, si sawa? … Huyu mama hajaolewa. Na yeye ako na mshahara. Kile anataka tu ni mwanaume mweusi kutoka hapa… Nani ako tayari kumchukua huyu mrembo? Mko tayari? Weka mkono namna hii ya application!” he shouted.

Muthoni laughed off the remarks, giggling and blowing a kiss toward the crowd.

That incident, attended by senior leaders including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, and Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei, also triggered widespread outrage and renewed questions about decorum in political spaces.
