A section of women leaders came together to celebrate former Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi in a simple but grand baby shower.

Former Senator and businesswoman Millicent Omanga shared photos of the ceremony on her X page, writing, “Oh baby, it’s a celebration! Congrats to Hon. Fatuma Gedi on her baby shower. Wishing you endless love, laughter & sweet baby cuddles!”

The intimate event was attended by family, close friends, and fellow women leaders, all dressed in elegant all-white outfits in line with the theme.

Among the guests spotted were Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, Gilgil MP Martha Wangari, and Kisumu West MP Rozah Akinyi Buyu, among others.

Photos from the baby shower captured warm moments of laughter, heartfelt wishes, and camaraderie as the leaders honored Gedi with love and support on her journey into motherhood.

On social media, Kenyans also joined in to celebrate her.

One user, Abdikadir, wrote: “Congratulations to her.” Another, Christopher Macharia, added: “Congratulations Hon. Fatuma.”

Fatuma Gedi, a prominent political figure, first won the Wajir County Woman Representative seat in 2017 under the Party for Development and Reform (PDR) during Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency.

However, she lost the seat in the 2022 general election to Fatuma Abdi Jehow of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

This is not the first time Kenyan politicians have offered glimpses into their personal lives.

Earlier this year, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika announced the birth of her twins, sparking debate after revealing she chose to give birth abroad.

She later defended her decision in a viral video, telling a cheering crowd in Kikuyu: “Women, you know our job (having babies). Just because I am the governor, does it mean I can’t have babies? … Did you really want me to lay on a table with the same doctors helping me deliver? Then, when we go for meetings, will the same doctors be looking at me in the same way?”
