Tambach TTC are this year’s Kenya Teachers Colleges Sports Association (KTCSA) netball champions.
Tambach successfully defended the netball trophy after beating Migori TTC 45-34 in women’s final played in Eregi.
Jackline Mwalo and Rachel Kibet scored 15 goals for Tambach to take the lead to 15-6 after the first quarter.
The champions, coached by Catherine Makokha, maintained dominance over Migori leading 22-14, 32-24 and finally 45-34 in the next three quarters during the finals graced by senior officials from Ministry of Education.
Tambach captain Selina Achieng’ said she felt honoured to win the trophy noting that they encountered many challenges on their way to the top.
"Our team prevailed because of solidarity, co-operation, hard work and due to the fact that all of us were self-driven," she added.
The winning team paraded Merab Asmin, Vitsengwa Mildred, Jackline Anyoso, Jackline Mwalo, Elizabeth Lokwe, Rose Odera, Irene Chemutai, Agnes Ashiali, Evelyn Awino, Everline Chebwogen, Mwalo and Kibet.
Coach Makokha said her team’s success has encouraged her to continue coaching netball and appealed to Kenya Netball Federation to extend tournament’s invitations to colleges teams to help keep players active round the year.

Kericho captain Ronald Kipkoech said it was a privilege to win the final, as they are the defending champions. Kaimosi captain Vincent Anguche conceded defeat and expressed satisfaction having reached the finals.
"It is a favour for us to reach the final because all our matches were won on goal difference," he noted.
In volleyball, Kamwenje overcame Asumbi 25-9, 26-24, 25-21 in men’s final, while St Joseph’s beat Egoji 28-26, 25-20, 25-21 in women’s category as the 30th edition of KTCSA Ball Games ended yesterday.
Kamwenje coach John Waithaka ‘Libero’ said their victory was a result of hard work since they trained for long time in preparations for the championships.
In women’s handball, Eregi became new champions after beating Kericho 15-14 in a closely contested match where immediate former champions Migori came fourth.
The victory handed Eregi their 11th handball title.
In men’s handball, Kibabii beat Kericho 38-26 in final to claim the title.
In basketball, Asumbi beat Egoji 79-34 in women’s final, while St Joseph’s outshone Shanzu 66-43 to carry home the trophy.
In hockey, Shanzu lifted the title following their 4-0 victory over Kigari in the onesided final encounter yesterday.
In men’s football, Mombasa’s Shanzu TTC upset International Teachers Training College 1-0 in a tough men’s football final.
