Land Cabinet Secretary Faridah Karoney has asked county governments to waive land rates to make the ongoing land titling programme a success.
Speaking in Nakuru County, where she supervised the ongoing land titling clinic yesterday, the CS said the State had waived fees charged for processing the title deeds, noting that the land rate charged by county governments was posing a challenge to the success of the programme.
Last week, the county government of Nakuru issued more than 4,000 titles to residents of Naivasha under the programme that targets to issue some 100,000 deeds by June.
Ms Karoney said more than 5,000 people had so far sought services in the ongoing clinic that is slated to end on Friday.
She said her ministry would consider extending the programme, adding that no one seeking a title deed would be locked out. She said she would be taking up the issue with respective governors.
