Fly 540 resumes Dar flights

Kenya’s second largest airline, Fly 540, has resumed direct flights to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The move adds to the airline’s growing list of international destinations, among them Juba in South Sudan and Zanzibar.

The airline will operate three flights every week from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam. “We are targeting two flights in a day,” said Director of Operations Nickson Ooko in a statement.

The resumption of flights to Tanzania is expected to spark off a pricing war with national carrier Kenya Airways.

“Ours is an airline that provides low-cost products and services without compromising on quality. For example, we will not charge for extra luggage or a pet,” he said.

Angeline Musili from the Tanzanian High Commission said the flights would be a boon for both Kenya’s and Tanzania’s tourism sectors.
